Jiri Dufek is fide master born in 1974. He started play chess at 6, but played only in local tournaments.

At 18 he started play correspondence chess and in 1999 won Correspondence Czech national teams championship together with Jan and Danous Pletanek and Miroslav Odehnal.

In this year he wrote “Bijte francouzskou!” (Kill the French!) together with Roman Chytilek and slowly left OTB chess. In this era he started toying with computerchess and thanks to this experience he won with Roman Chytilek IV.

Freestyle chess tournament organized by Chessbase in 2006. In 2009 he started cooperation with Vasik Rajlich and his engine Rybka, which culminate by Jiri’s work as second (with L’Ami, Smeets and Cheparinov) of Veselin Topalov during his match against Anand in Sofia 2010.

After this match he played in 16. Correspondence chess Olympiad on 2nd board and his result helped to Czech team winning gold medal, Jiri got final GM norm and broke 2600 barrier.

In 2017 he finally broke 2300 in OTB chess and got FM title.
