Chess enthusiasts from around the globe are invited to mark their calendars for the 2025 Open Championship of the Czech Republic in Amateur Chess. This premier event, organized by Robert a Petr šachy, z. s. and Klub šachistů Říčany 1925, will take place in the picturesque town of Hluk from May 6th to May 11th, 2025. Designed exclusively for players with an ELO rating of 2299 or lower, this tournament offers a unique opportunity to compete in a fair and challenging environment, free from the pressure of facing Grandmasters or International Masters.
A Tournament for True Amateurs
The Open Championship is tailored to ensure a level playing field, welcoming only those with a maximum ELO rating of 2299. With no Grandmasters or International Masters in the mix, amateur players have a real shot at claiming the top spots. The tournament features three categories: Standard (9 rounds), Rapid (9 rounds), and Blitz (13 rounds), all following the Swiss system, which guarantees that participants will face opponents of similar skill levels throughout the competition.

The prize fund for the Standard tournament is an impressive 226,500 CZK, with the winner set to take home 80,000 CZK. There are also substantial prizes for various categories, including the best junior, senior, and female players. Whether you excel in the Standard, Rapid, or Blitz formats, there are rewards to be won in every category. Additionally, players can accumulate prizes across different categories, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

- May 11th:The final round, followed by the closing ceremony and prize distribution.
